Safety standards aboard Wyvenhoe
Wyvenhoe is licenced by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. She carries full third party insurance and can only be sailed by a fully qualified Sailing Barge Master with a Certification issued by the MCA, and a suitably experienced mate.
The vessel is fully equipped with required safety equipment, including life jackets, life raft, safety lines around the edges of the decks and modern marine radio and GPS equipment. Her powerful engine is another safety feature.
All trips start with a safety briefing to explain the “do’s and don’ts” of barge sailing, life jackets and man overboard procedures, safety evacuation procedure, first aid points, emergency exits, and life raft procedures.
